Newborn: Carsan {7 weeks}

I often get asked what type of photography is my favorite. And if I'm honest, I do love the variety that makes up my job. I love capturing the beauty of a bride & groom and the love they share on their wedding day. The little toddler sessions that are sometimes more of a workout than a photo session also make me smile, because I love seeing the little personalities that come out in their photos.

But, if I would HAVE to pick a favorite, these tiny little people would most likely be my choice. They are each so different and unique. Some of them sleep the entire session, and others fight to stay awake while they are here. Maybe it's the fact that my own "babies" are growing up and are all in school, and I miss those snuggles But, I truly do LOVE being able to photograph newborns, and I get my "baby fix" with these precious little ones.

Carsan was born 8 weeks early (due in January, he decided to make his appearance mid-November). After about a month in the NICU, he was able to come home, healthy and growing. As newborn photographers, we prefer the 7-10 day age window. If they are much older, newborns are not as sleepy any more, and they aren't as "squishy", making it more difficult to put them into those newborn poses.

So, when I knew that Carsan was going to be 7 weeks old for his "newborn" photos, I warned his mom that I would do my best, but it would probably be different than a normal newborn session. However, Carsan totally proved us all wrong, and he was the PERFECT little model. He slept the entire morning, and acted just like a newborn would. If I wouldn't have known his age, I would've thought he was about a week old. He is just precious, and despite an early start, he is growing and doing so well . . .

Tiny little toes . . .

I love how little he looks in Daddy's big hands . . .

Josh & Nancy, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your little miracle. He was so good for his photos, and I have lots of favorites from his session. Blessings to you as you continue to adjust to this amazing journey of parenthood . . .
